How this place works

The buy3 community is where members report problems, ask for things, and answer each other. It is open to read and open to post in with any buy3 account — including a free one, and including one whose subscription has lapsed.

  1. Everything here is public

Threads are readable without an account and are indexed by search engines. Never post an API key, a routing key, a customer's phone number, or a caller's personal details. If you need to share something private, open a support ticket from your dashboard instead.

  2. Post in the room that fits

Bug reports and feature requests are tracked through to a decision, so keeping them in their own rooms is what makes that possible. Anything else that is a question belongs in Help, and anything that is a conversation belongs in the room for that part of the product.

  3. A good bug report has three parts

What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. Add the campaign or call in question where you can — a report we can reproduce is a report we can fix.

  4. Upvote rather than reply with agreement

Feature requests are ranked by votes, so "+1" as a reply moves nothing while an upvote does. Save replies for detail that adds to the case.

  5. Be straight with each other

Disagree with the argument, not the person. No harassment, no personal attacks, and nothing that would make somebody reluctant to ask a beginner's question here.

  6. Don't advertise

This is not a marketplace. Recruiting, buying and selling traffic, and promoting a competing product all belong somewhere else.

What the statuses on a bug or request mean

Open
Filed, not yet looked at.
Acknowledged
We have read it and reproduced or accepted it.
In progress
Somebody is actively working on it.
Fixed
Shipped. The thread says what changed.
Declined
We are not going to do it, and the thread says why.
Duplicate
Already covered by another thread, which is linked.

Only the buy3 team can move a status, and the author is emailed when it changes.

Moderation

Anyone signed in can report a post, which puts it in front of a moderator. A moderator can hide a post, lock a thread that has run its course, or move one to a better room. A hidden reply leaves a marker rather than a gap, so the conversation around it still makes sense. Posts are removed outright only when they have to be — a leaked credential, or personal information that should never have been published.

You can edit your own post for fifteen minutes after writing it, and remove it at any time. Removing it leaves the replies in place, because the people who answered you were writing for everybody who reads the thread later.

Your name here

Posts show your account name by default. Because this is the public internet and signing up is not the same as agreeing to publish your legal name, you can set a different display name for the community — it applies to everything you post here and changes nothing in your dashboard.

The badge next to your name

If you have earned a level, it appears beside your name on everything you write here and tints your avatar, so a reader can see at a glance how much time the person answering has spent doing the thing they are answering about.

Levels are earned in the product, not in this forum. Answering calls well is what moves one; posting here does not, and neither does being right in an argument. A member with no badge has simply not been ranked yet — it is not a mark against them, and plenty of the best answers here come from one.

Something wrong with these guidelines? Say so in General — that thread is as welcome as any other.
